Before anything hits a landfill, we sort for donation and recycling. Here's exactly what happens to your items after we drive away.
When most people picture junk removal, they picture everything going into one big pile and straight to the dump. That's not how we operate. Before we tip a single item, we sort through what came out of your space and separate anything that can go somewhere more useful than a landfill.
This matters for a few reasons. First, it's just the right thing to do — a working dresser or a stack of kids' clothes can help someone who actually needs them. Second, it keeps usable items out of landfills that are already handling more than they should. Third, it doesn't cost you anything extra. Donation drop-off is included in every job at no additional charge. You don't have to drive anything to Goodwill yourself.
Sofas, tables, chairs, lamps, décor, and household items in usable condition go to donation centers in the DFW area before anything else.
Clean clothing, linens, and bedding from estate cleanouts and storage units get sorted for donation wherever possible.
TVs, computers, and other e-waste are routed to certified electronics recycling facilities — not landfilled.
Washers, dryers, and metal appliances are recycled for scrap. Refrigerators and AC units get refrigerant recovered before disposal — required by federal law.
Metal from furniture frames, appliances, and other items goes to a scrap facility rather than a general landfill.
What can't be donated or recycled goes to a licensed disposal facility. It's the last stop, not the first.
We don't just say we donate — we have actual drop-off relationships with donation centers across the area. When we separate your usable items, they go to real places where people in the DFW community can benefit from them. We don't get paid for donations; it's just the right way to do the job.
Depending on the type and volume of items, donation drop-offs go to Goodwill locations across Dallas and the surrounding suburbs, Salvation Army donation centers, local churches and community organizations that accept furniture and household goods, and Habitat for Humanity ReStore locations for building materials, appliances, and furniture. We determine the best fit based on what's in the load and what each organization is currently accepting.
Clothing, household goods, furniture in good condition — multiple DFW locations.
Furniture and household items — including pick-up for larger donation loads when eligible.
Appliances, building materials, cabinets, and furniture. Great for renovation leftovers.
Churches and community organizations sometimes accept specific items outside mainstream donation channels.
Not everything can be saved. Items that are broken beyond use, heavily soiled, water-damaged, or otherwise unsalvageable go to a licensed disposal facility. We don't misrepresent where things end up — if something is truly trash, we say so and handle it properly. Hazardous materials like paint, chemicals, and propane require special handling outside our normal service — we'll flag those items and tell you how to deal with them.
Furniture that's structurally broken, heavily stained mattresses, and items with mold or pest damage go to disposal — donation centers won't accept them.
Paint, chemicals, propane tanks — these require separate handling at a hazardous waste facility. We'll help you identify them and point you to the right resource.
One of the most common things we hear from customers is "I pulled out the things I wanted to donate before you came." You don't have to do that. Sorting is our job. Tell us what's going, point us in the right direction, and we'll separate the donation-worthy items ourselves as we load. The only thing we ask is that you let us know if there are items you specifically want to keep — so we don't accidentally haul anything that's supposed to stay.
For estate cleanouts especially, we make a point to flag anything that could have value — monetary or sentimental — before it goes in the truck. We've found cash, jewelry, documents, and keepsakes during cleanouts. We always stop and ask before those go anywhere.
We do the job the right way. Donation, recycling, disposal — in that order.
